8-night Combined Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Nairobi early morning from Europe. You will met by our driver at JKIA and transferred to Wilson airport to meet your scheduled flight to Meru departing at 09.15 (a one hour flight).

Our team will meet you at Kinna airstrip and take you straight to the camp for brunch. Camp will be set up on the Rojerwero River in a glade of acacia trees. This is Kenya’s prettiest park where you will hardly see another person in sight during your stay but full of amazing wildlife and birds.

Our mobile camp is secluded, comfortable and our experienced team will make sure you have all the comforts you need such as hot showers, cold drinks and amazing food cooked on a charcoal fire and oven. Meru is a beautiful place to paint and photograph wildlife, to sit and watch wildlife come to you in complete peace without the disturbance of other tourist vehicles you would find in most national parks.

Day 1 – 5: 4 nights at Meru Wilderness Camp exploring Meru National Park in an open safari vehicle each day is the best way to see the huge diversity of wildlife such as lions, leopard, cheetah, Somali ostrich, Grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, buffalo, elephants, warthog, lesser kudu, and over 450 species of birds. Meru is bisected by numerous small rivers lined with doum palms and beautiful acacia forest home to incredible birdlife.

There is a rhino sanctuary in the park offering excellent photographic opportunities. with 24 black rhino and 56 white. There are open plains ideal for capturing shots of herds of buffalo, elephant, zebra and giraffe. Visiting Elsa the lion’s grave, and an excursion to the great Tana river with a picnic lunch are popular activities as well as tilapia fishing, game-drives and trip to the rhino sanctuary. Meru is so diverse and a lot of the bird and mammal species are endemic to Northern Kenya. You can easily spend a week here enjoying the sense of untouched wilderness as well as amazing wildlife.

Day 5: Today we will leave Meru after an early breakfast and drive to Laikipia, passing through the fertile farming areas of Meru and Mount Kenya. Coffee farms, wheat, roses, fruit and vegetables are all grown along the way in the alluvial soils around Mount Kenya. We will pass through the market town of Nanyuki and into beautiful Laikipia after a stop in the town for coffee. Its a 5 hour drive from Meru to Laikipia Wilderness and an interesting journey, seeing Kenyan life along the way.

Day 5 – 9: 4 nights at Laikipia Wilderness Camp, a small and authentic tented camp with just 5 tents with en suite bathrooms. This camp has beautiful views of Mount Kenya in the distance and blends sympathetically into this stunning area of true wilderness. Laikipia offers huge freedom, and is unrestricted. Walking safaris, tracking wild dogs and lions, game drives both day and night with a spotlight, flycamping under the stars, fishing and picnics in the river and and some of Kenya’s most stunning scenery make this a very special place. The guiding is of a very high standard at Laikipia Wilderness and the camp is well known for its delicious food.

Day 9: Today you will leave the camp after breakfast for Nanyuki, a road transfer of 1.5 hours. You will be taken to Nanyuki airstrip where you will meet your scheduled flight from Nanyuki to Wilson (a 40 minute flight). Upon landing at Wilson, you will have the afternoon to relax at a small guest house with a pool or explore a bit of Nairobi.
