Wildlife
Laikipia's largely unfenced landscape allows game to move freely with the rains, supporting an extraordinary range of species. The area is a stronghold for more than 70% of the world's remaining Grevy's zebra, alongside reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, zorilla, striped hyena, aardwolf, and wild dog. Large permanent populations of elephant, lion, leopard, spotted hyena, common zebra, warthog, hippo, buffalo, and numerous antelope species are also present, along with some 350 recorded bird species. A mammal and bird checklist is provided in the Laikipia Wilderness guest booklet.
Leopard Tracking - Laikipia boasts one of the highest leopard densities in Africa, and sightings here are exceptional.
